Charge the shipped battery to wake it from hibernation, remove the gimbal protector, install the battery until it clicks, and activate the Mini 4 Pro through DJI Fly with an internet-connected DJI RC 2 or RC-N2 setup. At a legal, open site, wait for a recorded Home Point and good positioning, set a Return-to-Home altitude appropriate for surrounding obstacles, then perform a short hover, control, RTH, and landing test close to the takeoff point.

Wake and charge the battery
Insert the shipped battery in the aircraft or charging hub and connect a supported charger until it is charged for setup.

Prepare the hardware before power-on
Remove the gimbal protector, unfold the aircraft as documented, check every propeller, and push the battery in until it clicks.

Activate through the correct controller path
For RC-N2, connect an internet-connected phone, controller, aircraft, and DJI Fly. For RC 2, connect the controller to Wi-Fi or a hotspot, activate it, then activate the aircraft in DJI Fly.

Update and configure safety basics
Install prompted firmware across the system, confirm the signal-loss action, wait for a recorded Home Point, and set an RTH altitude above surrounding obstacles without exceeding local limits.

Run a short first-flight qualification
Take off, hover at low altitude, check yaw and directional controls, verify video and telemetry, move only a short distance, trigger and observe RTH, then land manually or complete the return in the clear area.

- Do not take off with a damaged propeller, loose battery, attached gimbal protector, active error, missing Home Point, rain, or an unlawful flight plan.
- Land promptly when DJI Fly reports a battery, positioning, compass, propulsion, control-link, or environmental warning you cannot resolve in the air.
- Do not test maximum range, wind resistance, obstacle sensing, or low-battery behavior on a first flight.
