Let the result choose the next step

  1. The iPhone already shows the Home Screen

    Back up and erase the iPhone to use Move to iOS, or leave it set up and use Apple’s manual content instructions.

    Move to iOS is available during first setup; it cannot be opened later as an iPhone migration tool.

  2. Android warns that the temporary network has weak internet

    Keep Move to iOS open and follow Apple’s instruction to ignore the alert.

    The Android phone is connected directly to the iPhone for the transfer, not using that temporary network for ordinary internet access.

  3. Android says the transfer is complete first

    Leave both phones alone until the loading bar on the iPhone finishes.

    The iPhone progress bar is Apple’s completion signal for the copy.

  4. The transfer stops or fails

    Keep Move to iOS on screen. Turn off Android settings that switch Wi-Fi networks, forget saved networks, restart both phones, turn off Android cellular data, and retry.

    Apple identifies app switching, calls, network switching, and cellular data as common interruptions to remove before another attempt.

  5. The iPhone fills up or only part of the content arrives

    Compare available iPhone storage with the Android content. Back up and erase the iPhone before retrying with a selection that fits.

    Apple says insufficient iPhone storage can leave a partial transfer or a full-looking iPhone.

Step 1

Choose first setup or a manual move

Use Move to iOS only while the iPhone is in first setup. If the Home Screen already appears, back up the iPhone and erase it to start over, or keep the setup and follow Apple’s manual content instructions.

The From Android choice appears on the Transfer Your Apps & Data screen, not after setup is complete.

Step 2

Prepare space, power, Wi-Fi, and Chrome

Make sure the iPhone has room for the selected Android content, including files on a MicroSD card. Plug in both phones, turn on Android Wi-Fi, and update Chrome if its bookmarks should move.

Apple names storage, power, Wi-Fi, and the current Chrome version as prerequisites before the copy starts.

Step 3

Open the From Android setup screen

Turn on the new iPhone near the Android phone. On Quick Start, tap Set Up Without Another Apple Device. Continue to Transfer Your Apps & Data, tap From Android, then choose Transfer with App.

This is the required entry for the Move to iOS app transfer.

Step 4

Choose the app or the Android 17 option

For the app transfer, install Move to iOS from Google Play or scan the iPhone QR code to reach it. If the iPhone offers Transfer without App and the Android device runs a compatible version of Android 17 or later, you may choose that option and follow the QR-code prompts instead.

Apple now documents two different setup choices. Transfer without App is limited to compatible Android 17-or-later devices.

Step 5

Finish the remaining checks

Connect the phones and enter the code

Open Move to iOS on Android and allow the requested permissions. On iPhone, tap Continue and wait for a six- or ten-digit code. Enter it on Android, then tap Connect when Android is asked to join the temporary Wi-Fi network created by the iPhone. A weak-internet alert on Android can be ignored. If you use USB-C, follow any Android USB-settings prompt.

The temporary network carries the wireless transfer. A direct USB-C connection can be faster when the phones and setup offer it.

Choose content and wait for the iPhone

Select the content on Android and tap Continue. Keep Move to iOS on screen, leave both phones nearby and plugged in, and do not take a call or open another Android app. Wait until the loading bar on the iPhone finishes, even when Android reports completion first.

Apple uses the iPhone loading bar as the completion signal. Leaving the Android app or answering a call can interrupt the copy.

Check the result and move leftovers manually

Finish iPhone setup and check contacts, messages, photos, files, WhatsApp data, call history, calendars, and matched free apps. Move music, books, and PDFs manually. For other leftovers, add accounts, copy DCIM photos through a computer, sign in to streaming apps, and reinstall apps from the App Store.
