Calibrate a DJI Mini 4 Pro compass or IMU when DJI Fly prompts
Separate a magnetic site from a sensor error, then run the documented Mini-series compass or IMU calibration without guessing orientations.

The shortest reliable path.
Do not calibrate next to cars, parking lots, ships, large electrical equipment, or buildings with underground steel. With the aircraft linked and battery at least 50%, open DJI Fly camera view, tap ···, then Safety. For a compass prompt, unfold the arms and use Sensors > Compass > Calibration. For IMU calibration required, failed, or cannot be calibrated, use Sensor > IMU > Calibration on a level, dry surface and follow every on-screen placement, including the displayed arm position. If calibration still fails after an aircraft restart, use DJI repair rather than flying.

Scope before steps.
DJI Mini 4 Pro and other DJI Mini Series aircraft using DJI Fly when the app prompts compass or IMU calibration, including a prompt shown after the aircraft has been idle, or when Safety shows a non-normal sensor state.
Goggles-only FPV or Avata IMU paths, DJI GO 4 Mavic 2/Phantom/Spark menus, RC-only figure-8 compass calibration of DJI RC 2 or DJI RC Pro 2, compass interference while airborne without landing first, or continuing a flight with an unresolved sensor error.
Procedure
Do this in order.

Prepare the Mini-series aircraft
Power on the linked Mini 4 Pro and confirm the Intelligent Flight Battery is at least 50%. Unfold the arms for compass calibration; for IMU calibration, use the arm position shown by DJI Fly.

Leave magnetically dirty ground
Move to an open area away from parking lots, ships, large electrical equipment, and buildings with underground steel columns before compass work.

Open the Safety sensor controls
Enter the DJI Fly flight interface, tap ···, then Safety, and find Compass and IMU under the Sensors heading.

Calibrate only the prompted sensor
For a compass prompt, tap Compass > Calibration and follow the on-screen placement. For IMU calibration required, failed, or cannot be calibrated, place the aircraft on a level, dry surface, tap IMU > Calibration, and move it through every on-screen orientation.

Retry once, then stop
If the app reports calibration failure, restart the aircraft and repeat the same documented path once. If it still fails, submit a DJI repair request instead of launching.

Stop conditions
Know when not to keep changing things.
- Do not calibrate the compass beside vehicles, parking structures, ships, or steel-framed buildings.
- Do not launch with an unresolved “compass calibration required,” “IMU calibration required,” “IMU calibration failed,” or “IMU cannot be calibrated” prompt.
- Do not keep retrying after one restart if the documented Mini-series path still fails; send the aircraft to DJI.
