Diagnose shaking on a DJI Osmo Mobile or Osmo Pocket gimbal

Separate phone fit and clamp alignment from gimbal obstruction, overload, low-light motion blur, and unsupported vertical stabilization.

First identify whether the device is an Osmo Mobile phone gimbal or an Osmo Pocket camera. On Osmo Mobile, verify the phone is on DJI’s compatibility list, fits the supported weight and dimensions for the model, is centered in the magnetic clamp with no gap, and test without its case. On Osmo Pocket, power off and check the gimbal arm for debris, calibrate after an overload warning, and distinguish mechanical shaking from low-light blur caused by slow shutter speed. Collision damage or persistent abnormal sound requires DJI diagnosis.

Applies to

DJI Osmo Mobile phone gimbals and Osmo Pocket series cameras that shake, vibrate, or make abnormal gimbal sounds.

Does not cover

Ronin/RS balancing, disassembly, motor repair, unsupported phone modifications, or promising removal of natural walking movement on an axis the device does not stabilize.

Procedure

Do this in order.

  1. 01

    Choose the correct product branch

    Identify an Osmo Mobile with a clamped phone versus an Osmo Pocket with a built-in camera, then follow only that device branch.

  2. 02

    Center an Osmo Mobile load

    Confirm phone compatibility and model-specific size and weight limits. Remove the case for the test, center the magnetic clamp, eliminate any gap, and align the clamp and gimbal marks. Use the supplied riser pad when DJI specifies it for a small or thin phone.

  3. 03

    Clear and calibrate an Osmo Pocket gimbal

    Power off, inspect the gimbal arm for loose surface debris, and remove it without forcing the mechanism. If the screen reports Gimbal Motor Overloaded, run the documented gimbal calibration and retest within the device’s mechanical range.

  4. 04

    Prove whether low light is the real problem

    Make the same short shot in brighter light while holding the camera steadily. On supported Pocket models, compare Low-Light Video or a faster manual shutter with the original automatic exposure.

  • Stop immediately after a drop, collision, grinding sound, or persistent motor-overload warning.
  • Request DJI diagnosis when supported mounting, clear axes, and documented calibration do not stop physical shaking.
