Update Insta360 X4 firmware when the app update fails
Use the app path first, then the official computer file Insta360X4FW.bin, and read the blue indicator as the update—not a crash.

Keep X4 at least 20% charged. Connect it to the Insta360 app; if firmware is available, follow the in-app prompt and keep the camera close with the app in the foreground on a stable phone network. If that fails, power the camera on, connect USB-C, choose USB Mode, and copy the unmodified Insta360X4FW.bin from Insta360’s download page to the microSD card root directory, then disconnect. X4 powers off, the indicators flash blue, and it restarts when the update finishes. Do not rename the file.

Do this in order.

Read the current version
Swipe down on X4, open Settings, then Camera Info, and record the firmware version.

Try the Insta360 app path first
Connect X4 to the Insta360 app. If a firmware notice appears, follow it. Keep the camera close, leave the app in the foreground, and keep the phone on a stable network.

Fall back to the official computer file
With X4 on, connect the USB-C cable, select USB Mode, and copy Insta360X4FW.bin to the microSD card root directory without renaming it.

Disconnect and wait for the blue indicators
Unplug the camera. It should power off and the indicator lights should flash blue slowly, then restart by themselves.

Confirm the new version
After restart, reopen Camera Info or check the app Device Settings firmware line. A red dot next to the app firmware version means an update is still available.
