Fix Pixel mobile data that will not connect
Check Mobile data, Use SIM, Airplane mode, network type, signal, carrier compatibility, SIM state, power cycle, and the scoped network reset.
Direct answer
The shortest reliable path.
Open Settings > Network & internet > SIMs and turn on Mobile data and Use SIM, then turn Airplane mode off. Disable Wi-Fi briefly to read actual cellular signal and change location if coverage is weak. Confirm the preferred network type and that the Pixel model is compatible with the carrier’s network. Power the phone off—not Restart—wait 30 seconds, and turn it on. Use Reset mobile network settings only after recording SIM and carrier state, then contact the carrier for outages or plan changes.

Scope before steps.
Google Pixel phones that cannot use mobile data or calls, show weak or no cellular service, report a SIM problem, or fail to obtain expected 4G or 5G service.
Wi-Fi-only failures, carrier billing disputes, physical SIM tray repair, account activation without carrier access, exact 5G speed promises, or eSIM transfer instructions beyond isolation.
Procedure
Do this in order.
- 01
Enable the intended SIM and mobile data
Open Settings > Network & internet > SIMs, turn on Mobile data, select the carrier, confirm Use SIM is on, and turn Airplane mode off.
- 02
Read cellular signal without Wi-Fi
Temporarily turn Wi-Fi off, observe the cellular signal indicator, and move to another location if signal is weak or absent.
- 03
Confirm network type, model, and SIM state
Select a carrier-supported preferred network type, confirm the Pixel model supports that carrier network, and check that the SIM is active, clean, undamaged, and correctly installed when physical.
- 04
Power off fully, then use the narrow reset
Power the Pixel off, wait 30 seconds, turn it on, and test. If the issue persists, use System > Reset options > Reset mobile network settings, then check for Android updates and contact the carrier.
Diagnostic matrix
Read the result, not the guess.
| What you see | Check next | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Signal appears after changing location | Compare the carrier coverage map or report the weak area to the carrier. | The Pixel can register; local coverage or obstruction is the primary limitation. |
| The SIM shows inactive, No SIM, damaged, or bent | Contact the carrier for activation or replacement rather than repeatedly resetting Android. | The subscription identity cannot register normally in its current state. |
| Another active SIM works in the Pixel | Escalate the original SIM or account to its carrier. | The Pixel radio can connect; the failure follows the original SIM or carrier provisioning. |
Stop conditions
Know when not to keep changing things.
- Do not discard a physical SIM after eSIM conversion until the new eSIM is verified, and do not erase an eSIM during basic troubleshooting.
- Do not use the broader Bluetooth and Wi-Fi reset when only mobile data is being isolated unless you accept losing saved Wi-Fi connections.
- Contact the carrier when settings, signal location, compatibility, SIM state, power cycle, mobile reset, and Android update do not restore service.
