Reconnect a Ring doorbell or camera to a new Wi-Fi network
Change the saved network from Device Health while preserving the device, account, and installation.
Direct answer
The shortest reliable path.
Sign in to the Ring app with the device owner account, open the device, then go to Device Health → Network and choose Change Network or Reconnect. Stand near the device and router, follow the app’s setup-mode instructions, and join the intended 2.4 or 5 GHz network supported by that model. Do not delete the device just to change Wi-Fi.

Scope before steps.
Ring doorbells and security cameras that are already registered to the owner’s Ring account and need a new or restored Wi-Fi connection.
Account ownership transfers, stolen devices, enterprise captive portals, wiring repair, or unsupported Wi-Fi bands.
Procedure
Do this in order.
- 01
Confirm power and account ownership
Open the device in the Ring app and verify Device Health is visible under the owner account.
- 02
Start from Device Health
Open Network and select Change Network or Reconnect, using the wording presented for the device.
- 03
Put the device into setup mode
Follow the app’s model-specific button and light instructions while standing near the installed device.
- 04
Join a supported router band
Select the intended home network, enter its password, and use 2.4 GHz when the model does not support 5 GHz or range is marginal.
- 05
Verify health after reconnection
Wait for the device to return online, open Live View, and recheck signal strength and power in Device Health.
Diagnostic matrix
Read the result, not the guess.
| What you see | Check next | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Change Network is missing | Confirm the signed-in account is the owner and the app is current. | Permissions or app state may be hiding the control. |
| The setup light never appears | Restore power and repeat the exact model-specific setup-button action. | The device has not entered credential-receiving mode. |
| The network is not listed | Verify the router broadcasts a supported band and move a mesh node or router closer for setup. | Discovery or signal is failing before password authentication. |
| The device reconnects but soon goes offline | Inspect RSSI, power, and router stability in Device Health. | Credentials are correct; the installed connection is unstable. |
Stop conditions
Know when not to keep changing things.
- Do not remove a mounted or wired device unless its installation instructions make that necessary and power is safely isolated.
- Do not delete the device from the Ring account merely to change Wi-Fi.
- Contact Ring or the installer when stable power and a supported nearby network cannot keep the device online.
