Clear a Galaxy moisture warning before charging by USB

Treat the warning as port protection, dry the device with cool airflow, inspect for debris, and escalate persistent charging faults safely.

Direct answer

The shortest reliable path.

Disconnect the charger. Even on a water-resistant Galaxy device, Samsung says the charging port must be completely dry before charging. Gently shake out moisture, wipe the device with a soft clean cloth, and let it dry in a well-ventilated area using cool air. If charging still fails after the port is dry and a compatible Samsung charger and cable are proven, request hardware inspection.

Scope before steps.

Applies to

Samsung Galaxy phones and tablets that display a moisture-detection notification or stop wired charging after liquid exposure or suspected port contamination.

Does not cover

Liquid-damage warranty decisions, opening the device, corrosion repair, unsupported drying methods, wireless-charging compatibility, or model-specific water-resistance ratings.

Procedure

Do this in order.

  1. 01

    Remove power and surface moisture

Disconnect the charger, gently shake the device with the port oriented to let moisture leave, and wipe the exterior with a soft clean cloth.

  2. 02

Dry the port with cool ventilation

Leave the device in a well-ventilated area and use only cool airflow while the port dries completely.

  3. 03

Inspect debris without metal or liquid

Power the device off and use a flashlight to inspect the port. If visible debris prevents connection, remove it carefully without metal objects or liquids.

  4. 04

Prove a compatible charger and cable

After the port is fully dry, reconnect securely using a compatible Samsung charger and cable. If necessary, test another compatible set one component at a time.

Stop conditions

Know when not to keep changing things.

  • Do not charge through a port that is wet or still reports moisture.
  • Do not insert metal tools or cleaning liquid into the charging port.
  • Visit a Samsung service center when the warning or charging failure persists after complete drying, clean inspection, and known-compatible accessory tests.
