Recover a Sonos product missing from the app
Check the missing speaker’s power and status first, then reboot only the affected product and network before changing the whole Sonos system.
Direct answer
The shortest reliable path.
Confirm the missing Sonos product has power and responds when Play/Pause is pressed. Reboot that product, wait for it to finish starting, and then check the app. If several products disappear, restart the router and let the network return fully. A flashing green Sonos status light means the product must be added back to the system.
System view
Check the whole path.
- 01Sonos product power
- 02Wi-Fi or wired network
- 03Router
- 04Phone network
- 05Sonos app system view
Scope before steps.
Individual Sonos products that disappeared from System view or Settings in the current Sonos app for iOS or Android.
A Sonos app showing No products found for the entire household, changing to a new Wi-Fi network, S1/S2 migration, or hardware repair.
Procedure
Do this in order.
- 01
Prove power on the missing product
Check the power cord and outlet, then press Play/Pause and observe the status light.
- 02
Reboot only the missing product
Use Sonos’s reboot procedure for that product, wait for startup to finish, and recheck System view.
- 03
Restart the router when the pattern is broader
If multiple products are affected, unplug the router for ten seconds, reconnect it, and wait several minutes before checking Sonos again.
- 04
Address recurring network loss
Move a wireless product closer to the router or next wired Sonos product and reduce nearby wireless interference.
Diagnostic matrix
Read the result, not the guess.
| What you see | Check next | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| The status light flashes green after reboot | Use the Sonos app to add the product back to the existing system. | Sonos reports the product is ready to be added rather than currently joined. |
| Only one distant product disappears repeatedly | Move it closer and inspect interference around that location. | The local wireless path is more suspect than the entire system. |
| Every Sonos product is absent | Use Sonos’s separate No products found path and verify the phone network. | This is a household discovery problem, not one missing endpoint. |
Stop conditions
Know when not to keep changing things.
- Do not factory-reset the speaker before Sonos’s power, reboot, and network checks.
- Do not hide an offline product if the goal is to restore it.
- Contact Sonos when the powered product repeatedly disappears beside a healthy router after supported reboots.
