Fix Windows Wi-Fi that has no internet connection
Separate a PC problem from router, modem, ISP, address, DNS, driver, and power-management branches before using Network reset.
Direct answer
The shortest reliable path.
Confirm Wi-Fi is on and Airplane mode is off, forget and reconnect to the network, then test the same network from another device. Restart the modem and router, run the Windows Network and Internet troubleshooter, and ping the default gateway. Use driver removal or Network reset only after simpler connection and router checks because those steps can remove adapter settings and require other networking software to be reconfigured.

Scope before steps.
Windows 10 and Windows 11 PCs that cannot join Wi-Fi, show No Internet, lose Wi-Fi, or cannot find expected networks.
Router administration for a specific brand, ISP outages beyond isolation, enterprise network policy, or replacement of a failed wireless card.
Procedure
Do this in order.
- 01
Check the local Windows state
Make sure Wi-Fi is on and Airplane mode is off, then forget the affected network and reconnect with the correct password.
- 02
Separate the PC from the network
Test another device on the same Wi-Fi and, if possible, test the PC through Ethernet or another Wi-Fi network.
- 03
Restart the network and run diagnostics
Restart the modem and router in their documented order, then run the Windows Network and Internet troubleshooter and test again.
- 04
Escalate carefully
Ping the default gateway to test the router path. If simpler checks fail, update or reinstall the manufacturer-approved adapter driver; use Network reset only as the last Windows step.
Diagnostic matrix
Read the result, not the guess.
| What you see | Check next | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Other devices also have no internet | Check modem and router status, then contact the ISP if the local equipment cannot restore service. | The Windows PC is unlikely to be the only failing layer. |
| The PC replies to the default gateway but has no internet | Check modem, ISP, DNS, VPN, and proxy status. | The PC reaches the router; the fault is farther upstream or in name resolution or policy. |
| Ethernet works but Wi-Fi does not | Focus on the wireless profile, band support, adapter state, driver, and router radio. | The PC and internet service can work while the wireless segment cannot. |
Stop conditions
Know when not to keep changing things.
- Do not factory-reset the router while other devices or managed settings depend on it.
- Do not uninstall a wireless driver until a compatible installer is available if the PC has no alternate connection.
- Stop and contact an administrator when Wi-Fi settings are controlled by workplace or school policy.
