Reconnect a Bluetooth device to an Android phone

Turn Bluetooth off and back on, confirm the devices are paired and connected, and restart both. For a car, forget the car on Android and remove the phone from the car’s memory before pairing from the side named in the car manual. For another accessory, put it in discovery mode and use Settings > Connected devices > Pair new device. Fast Pair needs the phone within 0.5 meter, Bluetooth and Location on, and Wi-Fi or mobile data. If connection works but audio does not, enable Media audio or Phone audio for that device.

Procedure
Do this in order.

Reset the basic radio state
Turn Bluetooth off and back on, confirm the device is shown as paired and connected, then restart the Android device and accessory.

Clear both sides of a car pairing
Forget the car and unused devices under Android Saved devices, then remove the phone and unused phones from the car’s memory. Make the intended side discoverable and pair again with matching PINs.

Pair other accessories from discovery mode
Put the accessory in its documented discovery mode, open Connected devices > Pair new device, refresh the list, and select its name.

Check Fast Pair or audio profiles
For Fast Pair, stay within 0.5 meter, turn on Bluetooth and Location, and connect Android to Wi-Fi or mobile data. If paired audio is missing, open the device settings and enable Media audio or Phone audio as appropriate.

Stop conditions
Know when not to keep changing things.
- Do not clear every saved device when the failure is limited to one accessory and its two-sided pairing can be isolated.
- Do not assume every car supports both music and calls over Bluetooth; verify the vehicle manual.
- Contact the Android device or accessory manufacturer when a current, charged, discoverable product cannot pair after the documented two-sided cleanup and restart.
