Apply U.S. TRUST, registration, and Remote ID rules to Mini 4 Pro

Every recreational flyer in the U.S. must pass TRUST and carry proof, regardless of aircraft weight. FAA registration and Remote ID apply when the drone weighs 250 g (0.55 lb) or more, or when it is registered. DJI specifies Mini 4 Pro standard takeoff weight under 249 g with the Intelligent Flight Battery, propellers, and a microSD card; the Intelligent Flight Battery Plus makes the aircraft weigh more than 249 g. Weigh the ready-to-fly aircraft. If it is under 250 g and unregistered, TRUST and the rest of the recreational rules still apply. If it meets the 250 g threshold or you register it, mark it, carry proof, and operate with Remote ID unless you are inside an FAA-Recognized Identification Area.

Recreational flights of DJI Mini 4 Pro in U.S. National Airspace under 49 U.S.C. 44809, using the standard Intelligent Flight Battery or the Intelligent Flight Battery Plus.

Does not cover

Part 107 commercial or compensated flights, foreign-registered aircraft Notices of Identification, FRIA site applications, LAANC authorizations in controlled airspace, or non-U.S. aviation rules.

Do this in order.

Confirm the flight is recreational
Use the Exception for Limited Recreational Operations only for personal enjoyment. If the purpose is work, business, or the FAA examples such as property photos or inspections, stop and use Part 107 instead.

Weigh the ready-to-fly Mini 4 Pro
Compare the flown weight with FAA’s 250 g (0.55 lb) registration threshold. Treat DJI’s standard Mini 4 Pro weight as under 249 g with the Intelligent Flight Battery, propellers, and a microSD card, and treat the Plus battery as a configuration that exceeds 249 g.

Add Remote ID when the aircraft is registered or must be
For a registered or registration-required Mini 4 Pro, use one FAA path: operate a Standard Remote ID drone listed on an FAA Declaration of Compliance, add an approved Remote ID broadcast module, or fly only inside an FAA-Recognized Identification Area. Record the applicable Remote ID serial number in the Recreational Flyer inventory instead of assuming the Mini 4 Pro configuration already qualifies.
