Fix a microSD card that Nintendo Switch cannot read

Procedure
Do this in order.

Power off before touching the card
Hold the POWER Button for at least three seconds, choose Power Options, then Turn Off before removing or inserting the microSD card.

Inspect without cleaning the slot internally
Remove the card and look for visible dirt or debris on its connectors and in the slot. Do not push tools or liquid into the console.

Match the card to the console generation
For Nintendo Switch, use microSD up to 2 GB, microSDHC from 4–32 GB, or microSDXC from 64 GB–2 TB. Do not use a standard Switch card as a substitute for the microSD Express card required by Switch 2.

Format only after preserving recoverable media
If the supported card is still unreadable and its needed media is backed up, use System Settings > System > Formatting Options > Format microSD Card.

Separate one bad card from a bad slot
Replace a card that remains unreadable. If multiple supported cards fail in the same console, arrange Nintendo service and include the problematic cards for testing.
