The useful differences

What changes when you use it

LIT HERO is the small, simple camera with its own light. HERO13 Black earns the larger body with higher-frame-rate modes, in-camera stabilization, removable batteries, and lens options.

Main advantage

LIT HEROBuilt-in LED light

Light nearby subjects without an add-on

HERO13 BlackHB-Series + GPS

Change the lens and record telemetry

The cameras solve different jobs. The light is not a substitute for HERO13 controls, and HERO13 does not have LIT HERO’s built-in light.

HERO13 can swap batteries in the field. LIT HERO must be recharged as one camera.

Start with pocket light versus flagship control

LIT HERO’s United States learn page positions an easygoing, pocketable 4K camera with a built-in LED light and three brightness levels. HERO13 Black’s United States learn page positions professional 5.3K video, HB-Series Auto-Detect lenses, GPS overlays, and HyperSmooth 6.0. Choose the job first; marketing slogans cannot turn a compact light camera into an HB-lens flagship.

Body class and creative controls are the primary published decision between these two cameras.

Identify LIT HERO’s compact body

Compare published video mode families

LIT HERO documents 4K60 video and 4K or 1080p slo-mo at 60/50 fps, plus 4:3 immersive video and 12 MP photos. HERO13 Black documents 5.3K60, 4K120, 2.7K120, and 1080p240 class video, Burst Slo-Mo up to 400 fps at 720p, HLG HDR, and 10-bit color. Match the mode family you need; do not invent a cross-model fps matrix.

Each camera’s resolution and frame-rate ceiling is first-party and non-interchangeable.

Know where HyperSmooth is applied

LIT HERO’s United States manual states HyperSmooth is applied automatically in the Quik app after capture. HERO13 Black markets Emmy-winning HyperSmooth 6.0 as in-camera stabilization. If you need stabilized playback without an app pass, that published difference points to HERO13 Black.

Stabilization location changes the ownership workflow after the shot.

Apply waterproof depth only to the named body

LIT HERO’s United States learn page and manual state waterproofing to 16 ft (5 m) with the door locked. HERO13 Black’s United States learn page states rugged plus waterproof to 33 ft. Do not reuse one depth rating on the other body.

Waterproof depth is model-specific on the opened United States sources.

What still depends on your situation

Choose battery and lens ecosystems you will keep

LIT HERO uses a built-in, non-removable Enduro-technology battery and a replaceable hydrophobic lens cover. HERO13 Black uses a removable 1900 mAh Enduro battery that is not compatible with older GoPros, plus HB-Series Macro, Ultra Wide, Anamorphic, and ND glass with Auto-Detect. Buy the accessories you will actually use.

Battery serviceability and lens mods follow each body’s published contract.

Hand off setup after the purchase decision

After choosing LIT HERO, use Quik pairing and the LIT HERO power-recovery guide only if the camera will not start. After choosing HERO13 Black, open the first dry-test setup, HB-Series lens guide, presets-by-result workflow, and waterproof door check. Keep MISSION 1 and MAX2 on their own selection pages.

Selection stops at LIT HERO versus HERO13 Black; setup and care desks already exist.
