Fix a GoPro that will not connect to the Quik app
Rebuild the Bluetooth discovery and camera Wi-Fi path without confusing app pairing with internet access.
Direct answer
The shortest reliable path.
Turn on Bluetooth and Wi-Fi on the phone, update GoPro Quik and the phone, then put the camera into Pair Device mode and follow the app. Keep the phone beside the camera and grant the permissions the app requests. If discovery works but the Wi-Fi connection fails, change the camera’s connection band from 5 GHz to 2.4 GHz for a phone or region that does not support the faster band.

Scope before steps.
Recent GoPro cameras connecting to the GoPro Quik mobile app; menu wording varies by camera generation.
GoPro cloud subscription issues, obsolete desktop Quik software, damaged camera radios, or unsupported legacy-camera workflows.
Procedure
Do this in order.
- 01
Start pairing from the camera
Open the camera Dashboard, go to its connections controls, choose Pair Device, then open Quik and follow the add-camera flow.
- 02
Keep both radios and permissions available
Leave Bluetooth and Wi-Fi enabled and accept the operating-system prompts Quik needs for nearby and local-network access.
- 03
Remove stale pairing state
If the camera is saved but will not reconnect, remove it from Quik and the phone Bluetooth list as directed, restart both devices, and add it again.
- 04
Try the compatible Wi-Fi band
In the camera connection settings, change Wi-Fi Band from 5 GHz to 2.4 GHz when the phone or region does not support 5 GHz.
- 05
Update camera software
After any stable connection is restored, use Quik or the camera’s supported manual-update method to install current camera software.
Diagnostic matrix
Read the result, not the guess.
| What you see | Check next | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| The camera never appears in Quik | Confirm Pair Device mode, Bluetooth permission, proximity, and camera battery. | Discovery is failing before the camera Wi-Fi link is attempted. |
| The camera appears but connection times out | Grant local-network access and try the 2.4 GHz camera band. | Bluetooth discovery works; the direct Wi-Fi stage is failing. |
| A second phone connects | Repair permissions and saved Bluetooth/Wi-Fi state on the original phone. | The camera radio is working. |
| Connection drops only at longer range | Test beside the camera with interference reduced. | The link budget, band, or environment is limiting stability. |
Stop conditions
Know when not to keep changing things.
- Stop and dry the camera according to its manual if ports or compartments were exposed to water.
- Do not interrupt a camera firmware update or install software for another model.
- Contact GoPro when current supported devices cannot discover or connect to the camera at close range on either supported band.
